The Senior Rolling Stock Program Specialist position at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) involves supporting the Rolling Stock Program Office in implementing best practices for the acquisition and lifecycle costing of various transportation assets, including buses, subway cars, and commuter rail cars. The role requires collaboration with business partners across New York City Transit (NYCT), Metro North Railroad (MNR), and Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to understand reporting needs and conduct data analysis. The specialist will also work with project management offices to maintain project timelines and budgets, ensuring the successful implementation of strategies and recommendations from the Rolling Stock Program Office.

  • Conduct analysis on a wide variety of rolling stock related datasets, including maintenance and performance data.
  • Prepare and present findings and recommendations of various analyses to leadership and operating agencies.
  • Support benchmarking exercises on procurement evaluation models.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration across MTA operating agencies.
  • Support project management oversight of existing rolling stock projects.
  • Implement quality controls to ensure data validity and accuracy.
  • Perform data analysis including ROI and lifecycle cost analyses.
  • Conduct industry research regarding market conditions affecting rolling stock manufacturing.
  • Support the implementation of a total cost of ownership approach.
  • Represent the MTA at national and international public transportation forums.

  • Full-time position with a salary range of $93,300 - $117,482.
