About The Position

Join our fast-paced and passionate team as a Senior Robotic Automation & Mechanical Design Engineer. As we scale, you will be instrumental in building our foundation from the ground up. This is a dynamic, hands-on role for a self-starter who thrives in a fluid startup environment. You'll have the opportunity to work on cutting edge technologies, work closely with leadership, and develop and implement engineering practices that support our mission and growth. Your key responsibilities are as follows: Design pick-and-place systems that leverage machine vision for accurate position detection. Build expert-level cable management solutions for dynamic assemblies. Conduct thermal, structural, and vibration modeling for complex opto-mechanical assemblies and alignment systems. Employ and enhance automated fluid dispensing systems. Ensure adherence to best practices for serviceability and maintainability in designs. Develop optical alignment architectures for both coarse and precise motion utilizing micro-grippers. Create innovative systems to align and install optical components with minimal involvement from technicians. Establish high-throughput manufacturing processes to produce laser systems in large volumes while reducing cycle times. Apply best design practices for parametric modeling in intricate large assemblies. Uphold safety and cleanliness standards for all systems and subsystems in a cleanroom setting. Demonstrate the capability to work autonomously while regularly updating progress and status reports. Conduct thorough design reviews catering to both design and manufacturing audiences. Design ultraviolet curing systems and strategies for optical bonding. Facilitate the integration of die bonding within complex assemblies. Create and configure optical metrology systems utilizing cameras, power meters, wavemeters, and various other devices. Design sheet metal and CNC machined components. Engage in hands-on prototyping, assembly, and testing to validate design intent. Assist in facilitating hardware procurement processes. Draft engineering change orders and manufacturing work instructions. Provide support and mentorship to junior engineers. This position requires access to export-controlled information. Employment is contingent upon the applicant being a U.S. person as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3).
