The Senior Robotic Automation & Mechanical Design Engineer at Daylight will be responsible for the design and analysis robotic alignment systems for photonics products. They should have a strong understanding of mechanical design practices including precision mechanisms, kinematics, and thermal control. They will also be responsible for the integration of off the shelf translation stages, rotation stages, micro-grippers, and machine vision systems in large complex assemblies. Additionally, they will support the design, analysis, documentation, testing, and manufacturing of optical/laser products, systems, and/or subsystems. Working with a multi-disciplinary design team, they will execute on mechanical modeling, prototyping, calculations, FEA, and testing. The successful candidate would be able to compile/review data and perform mechanical analyses (hand calculations, FEA) to make design decisions and implement them in CAD/documentation. Along with design, they will conduct formal reviews, support failure analyses and proposals. They should additionally be able to work independently, be flexible, and be receptive to ideas and feedback.
