About The Position

Responsible for leading oversight and ongoing implementation of the Bank’s enterprise risk management framework and critical risk programs designed to ensure comprehensive risk governance across all business units, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience. Serves as a key advisor to senior leadership and the Board on emerging risks and mitigation strategies.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in risk management within banking or financial services required.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements for commercial banks with $10–$20 billion in assets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive and Board-level reporting.
  • Strategic thinking with ability to anticipate and manage emerging risks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence and build consensus across diverse stakeholders.
  • High integrity and commitment to ethical standards including applicable confidentiality and privacy standards.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise and/or experience in ERM, operational resilience, third-party risk, model risk, and/or SOX 404 compliance preferred.
  • Master’s, JD or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications preferred: Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), RIMS-Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP), COSO ERM Certificate, Certified Compliance Risk Manager (CRCM), or Project Management Professional (PRP).

Responsibilities

  • The Bank’s ERM framework, which includes policies, procedures, and processes designed to facilitate risk identification, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors on major risk categories and sub-categories across the enterprise.
  • The enterprise-wide business continuity planning, disaster recovery, incident response, and resilience programs designed to ensure operational stability and continued excellence in client experience.
  • Vendor due diligence, risk assessment, contract management, and ongoing monitoring programs to mitigate outsourcing and supply chain risks in accordance with, among other things, requirements and guidance of bank regulatory agencies.
  • Policies, procedures, and processes designed to ensure compliance with regulatory guidance for model risk management, including model identification and assessment, model validation, performance monitoring of models, and model governance processes.
  • Internal control framework for financial reporting designed to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for periodic assessment of key controls for financial reporting.
  • Centralized policy governance designed to ensure consistency, timely updates, and periodic review of policies subject to Board of Directors, Strategic Deployment Committee, and/or CEO approval.
  • A structured change management process to minimize strategic, operational, and compliance risks.
  • Enterprise-wide program for issue identification, remediation, and tracking to strengthen risk posture and support oversight and credible challenge responsibilities of the Board of Directors.
  • Oversees risk dashboards and reporting to executive management and the Board.
  • Serves as primary contact for and liason with auditors and examiners on foregoing areas of responsibily and other risk management related matters as requested.
  • Manages and further develops the team of risk professionals in the Risk Department and promote a strong risk culture across the organization.
  • Supervises assigned staff and exercises authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, and accountability processes for performance that is below expectations.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of the position.
  • Responsible for the completion of all compliance training assigned pursuant to the bank-wide compliance training program.
  • Must understand all applicable laws and regulations that apply to the position and comply with the requirements.
