About the position

The Senior RF Communications Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and analysis of communication systems, particularly in developing resilient and secure communications networks for contested environments. This position involves collaboration with a team of engineers and scientists to address complex challenges in communications systems development, while also leading specific engineering tasks and contributing to strategic planning and business development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and analyze prototype link adaptation algorithms for secure communications networks.
  • Develop communications solutions based on application needs, considering space, weight, power, and propagation environment.
  • Lead teams on specific engineering tasks as circumstances allow.
  • Provide status updates, analysis results, and algorithms in written reports and presentations to management.
  • Assist in developing and updating strategic plans for growth in communications technical areas and business development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in communications system design.
  • Extensive experience in wireless communications systems and waveforms.
  • Experience in FPGA development.
  • Knowledge of RF design principles.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of physical, link, and network layers of communication systems.
  • Experience in digital design, digital signal processing, and communications systems.
  • Experience in embedded systems design, embedded software development, and design verification/test.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, or C/C++ for algorithm development, modeling, and simulation.
  • Effective communication skills for ideas and results.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Active Secret security clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Knowledge of advanced wireless communications concepts (OFDM, MIMO, etc.).
  • Experience with satellite communications systems.
  • Hands-on experience with RF hardware design and RF System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures.
  • Familiarity with VME/VPX bus standards (e.g., VITA 46).
  • Experience with military communications networks (e.g., CDL, LINK16/MIDS).
  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
