About The Position

As a Senior Revenue Accountant under minimal supervision; you will perform more complex accounting work in one or more Global Finance areas. Prepare financial statements and reconciles ledger accounts, which require a detailed knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts. Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs in areas of specialization. Advise management and employees on complex issues in areas of expertise. Assist customers and other constituents. This is a full-time hybrid (3 days a week on-site) position located at our Northbrook, IL office. Under minimal supervision, performs more complex general accounting work in one or more areas of UL Revenue and Project Accounting. Develops and maintains working knowledge of advanced concepts in assigned areas, specifically Revenue Recognition under ASC 606. Prepares journal entries and reconciles ledger accounts requiring a detailed knowledge of fundamental and advanced accounting concepts. Applies fundamental accounting concepts and practices in assigned areas. Communicates with colleagues regarding complex issues in areas of specialization. Confers with supervisor on unusual matters. Conducts, and may supervise complex assignments in areas of specialization within the division. Communicates with management and employees regarding issues in accounting and recommends solutions. Assists in the development of new or revised policies, procedures, and programs by performing research and analysis. Develops and presents recommendations concerning procedures and program features. Explains and interprets department policies, procedures, and practices. Provide work direction to assigned lower level personnel and assist in the review and evaluation of assigned personnel. Develops and maintains network of contacts at outside agencies or organizations, such as external audit firms, to obtain or exchange information. Develops and maintains working knowledge of advanced concepts in assigned areas, specifically Revenue Recognition under ASC 606 and Accounting for Rebates. Develops an awareness of how decisions made in assigned areas impact work in other functional areas. Stays abreast of current trends, and practices in area of specialization. Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices Performs other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline plus generally four years of directly related accounting experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of accounting theories and practices.

  • CPA preferable
