About The Position

Bolster, a Taylor Company, is looking for a skilled Senior Retail Designer to bring their best to the team and bring out the best in the team. You’ll join a group of strategic thinkers, designers, developers, and creative storytellers to collaborate in developing innovative brand experiences for retail, lifestyle and commercial brands. The position involves direct interaction with sales, marketing, design, engineering, and production teams, where, as a team, you’ll solve complex design and marketing challenges with imaginative approaches and solutions. You will provide insight, research, and creative expertise to help lead discovery and experimentation as you collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including project management, marketing team members, and sales teams.

Requirements

  • A strong portfolio exemplifying talent and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, industrial design, or equivalent art school education.
  • 7+ years collective experience at brand, design, and/or in-house retail agencies.
  • Expert user of the latest 3D software applications, such as Blender, SketchUp, 3DS Max or Cinema 4D (the latter two preferred), as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Solid understanding of materials, production techniques and file preparation.
  • Familiarity with using project management tools (Monday.com, etc.).
  • Outstanding organizational, project management, file-organization and archiving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Process-orientation and self-starting character.
  • Willingness to learn on the job.
  • A creative and innovative design thinking spirit.
  • A reliably calm disposition when under pressure.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
  • Hand sketching is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Concept and design 3D environments and experiences from start to finish, with a strict attention to detail and ability to work to scale, to ensure a seamless handover to R&D, production and fabrication teams.
  • Develop big ideas that translate across 2D, 3D and digital applications.
  • Design development of displays, fixtures, environments, signage systems, and graphics.
  • 3D modeling, lighting, texturing, and rendering.
  • Create original design solutions, communicate and present design concepts to Creative Director and other team partners.
  • Create visual presentations for project concepts, proposals, pitches, and new business responses.
  • Work with design leader and team leaders to ensure design feasibility, budget, and overall program needs.
  • Build working files to connect the design team with the R&D, production and fabrication teams and resolve issues that arise.
  • Catalog and reference art for future projects, organizing templates, assets, materials, proofs, etc.
  • Follow production timelines to ensure tasks are being completed and communicate progress and challenges along the way.
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise with both the creative team, and business partners.
  • Uphold the standards of established brands through design excellence.
  • Balance multiple projects, as a leader, contributor and direct creator.
