About The Position

The practice of Respiratory Care under the direct supervision of a medical director, and department director; performs, management, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities which affect the pulmonary system and associated aspects of cardiopulmonary and other systems function within the scope of practice of Respiratory Care Practice Act 1996. The Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment of initiative to apply prescribed treatments and testing in a safe, professional manner. The Respiratory Therapist is a certified or registered therapist who is accountable and responsible for the delivery of direct respiratory care to all age ranges of patients from neonates to adults and through the assignment and direction of the Patient Care Leader, utilizing a collaborative care patient management process, meeting established standards of respiratory care and integrating other health care team members. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care or Graduate of a two (2) year Respiratory Program Coursework/Training: New NICU therapists: Must complete a formal neonatal respiratory course at a JRCTE approved one or two year college program, with didactic and clinical coursework. or complete the didactic portion of the above course and complete a minimum of four weeks of precepted neonatal clinical experience in a hospital-based course at a facility with a Community or Regional NICU.
  • Upon hire: California Respiratory Care Practitioner License
  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
  • Within 90 days of hire: National Provider ACLS - American Heart Association
  • Within 90 days of hire: National Provider PALS - American Heart Association
  • 1 year Acute care setting to include critical care.
  • Experienced NICU Therapists: At least 1 year of clinical experience in a Level II of Level III NICU.
  • Existing NICU Therapist: Minimum of 2 annual transports per year.
  • Minimum of 2 deliveries per year.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care
  • Master's Degree in Respiratory Care
  • Upon hire: EKG competency certified
  • Upon hire: Membership in CSRC or AARC
  • Upon hire: Perinatal-Pediatric certified (for experienced NICU therapists)
  • Neonatal Intensive Care experience.
