About The Position

The Senior Residential Energy Specialist will provide technical services to all Energy Services Programs, ensuring compliance with contractual, production, and technical obligations. Responsibilities include conducting appointment scheduling, heating system inspections, energy weatherization audits, in-process inspections, and Quality Control Inspections. The specialist will respond to emergency no-heat needs of clients, educate them about energy conservation, and complete related program administrative duties. The role involves evaluating weatherization work, identifying health and safety issues, monitoring contractor performance, and maintaining program records. Coordination and conducting program inspections with funders' representatives are also key aspects of the position. Strong computer skills, organizational abilities, customer service skills, and building science experience are essential, along with the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of air and heat flow in buildings.
  • Understanding of insulation R-values and installation techniques.
  • Knowledge of moisture problems and indoor air quality issues.
  • Ability to measure dimensions and compute surface areas.
  • Experience analyzing utility bills.
  • Ability to conduct zone pressure diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of combustion appliance safety testing.
  • Ability to estimate heating and cooling loads.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with energy efficiency programs.
  • Familiarity with DOE/Utility-approved priority lists for weatherization measures.
  • Ability to meter electrical devices for energy consumption.

Responsibilities

  • Perform home energy evaluations in support of DOE and utility-sponsored energy efficiency programs.
  • Evaluate the condition of vapor and thermal systems including insulation and air flow.
  • Perform Infrared scanning and blower door testing as well as combustion safety protocols.
  • Prepare work orders and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate contractor assigned work, including assignment, in-process inspections and post inspections (QCI).
  • Accompany funder representatives on their inspections of completed or in-process work.
  • Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs.
  • Attend & participate in engagement team meetings as requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee, and agency information.
  • Ensure compliance with program/department, agency, and/or funder requirements.
