About The Position

The Section of Hematology/Oncology has a proud and long tradition of excellence in research-based patient care and clinical discovery. Ranked among the finest cancer programs in the country, the Section is comprised of nationally and internationally known faculty with expertise in all major types of malignancies, blood disorders, and experimental therapies. The Senior Research Technologist will support the Szmulewitz laboratory through close collaboration with the PI, postdoctoral fellows, graduate student(s) and laboratory manager within the Section of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Medicine.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or related field.
  • Relevant research experience.
  • Willingness to work with rodents.
  • Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Office).
  • Knowledge of research techniques and methods.
  • Ability to work with little direct oversight.
  • Ability to work within a larger research team.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for independently designing and executing experiments.
  • Prioritizing experiments in the context of the other projects.
  • Troubleshoot experiments with minimal oversight.
  • Responsible for data analysis and presentation internally and within publications.
  • Coordination of research activities with collaborating laboratories.
  • Work closely with other collaborating laboratories and other external partners.
  • They will be responsible for coordinating meetings between collaborators and summarizing/disseminating meeting notes and action items.
  • Training of new laboratory staff and students.
  • Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects.
  • Conducts literature reviews and helps write reports and manuscripts.
  • Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
  • Takes responsibility for the following laboratory duties: recognizing abnormal results and varying conditions or procedures to correct problems; setting up and performing experiments.
  • Analyze the meaning, significance, causes, and effects of the subject.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
