About The Position

As a Senior Research Technologist on this team, you will supervise Dr. Katherine Dobbs’ laboratory operations on a daily basis, including oversight of lab space, equipment, personnel, and project management. The lab focuses on translational research involving malaria, with all work conducted through cell culture and no mouse or patient interaction. In this role, you will contribute to studies exploring the underlying mechanisms of infectious diseases that affect pediatric patients globally. The research is highly engaging and has the potential for lasting worldwide impact, while also supporting the clinical research team that directly contributes to improved patient care. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. After fully trained, this position offers a hybrid option with 2–3 days per week working remotely and the remaining days onsite, depending on patient care needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and six years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment, which has developed the ability to work independently on a variety of research projects, demonstrated through a thorough understanding of research laboratory techniques and procedures OR Associate's in laboratory science field and five years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment OR Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment OR Master's degree and three years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment
  • Proficient in innovative design and development techniques, with experience in budget management

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GLP and working with infectious agents
  • Proficient in supporting laboratory setup and independently running experiments
  • Experience with Cell culture, immunoassays (ELISA, Luminex, MSD), flow cytometry, RNA isolation, qPCR, NGS library preparation, inventory management, international shipping logistics

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a research lab on a daily basis, including space, equipment, personnel, and project management.
  • Assist staff investigator with experimental design and planning/developing technical aspects of research projects.
  • Plan, organize, perform, and monitor daily project protocols.
  • Collect, prepare, and maintain required research documentation, including informed consent records, case records, clinical notes, and medical reports.
  • Report and assist with the management of protocol deviations, adverse events, and other project-related issues.
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of internal/external presentations, conference reports/lectures, and publishing submissions.
