About The Position

Our Lab in the Mayo Clinic Department of Surgery has an opening for a research technologist interested in lung regeneration and ischemia/reperfusion injury in lung transplantation. The candidate will be actively engaged in pre-clinical large animal models, ex-vivo lung perfusion and understanding cell signaling pathways involved in ischemia-reperfusion injury. We are seeking an experienced individual who has extensive experience with preclinical research using murine models and porcine models, Western blot, PCR, cell culture, scRNA sequencing, flow cytometry, statistics. The individual needs to be organized and able to multi-task, and proficient in study planning and data management, and analysis. Experience with animal handling and procedures are essential for this job.

Requirements

• Requires bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science with 4 years of research laboratory experience (5 years preferred).
• Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science preferred.
• Must exhibit a solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety.
• Must have the ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting.
• Experience with basic data analysis is required.
• This position requires demonstrated writing skills and independence.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals, grant commitments, i.e., assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc.
• Collects, enters, and summarizes data.
• Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
• Presents at research laboratory meetings and contributes to writing of manuscripts.
• Works under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.
