About The Position

The Senior Research Technician (SRT) plays a crucial role in the research and development of construction and building materials. This position involves advanced technical functions such as testing, analyzing, and improving processes and products. The SRT collaborates with principal investigators to design experiments, maintain safety protocols, and ensure that projects align with research goals. The role also includes lab management, equipment maintenance, and supporting R&D teams in executing experimental work.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate with 7+ years of experience; or an Associate degree with 4+ years of experience in a technical field, ideally STEM related.
• Ability to graph and chart data using Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
• General laboratory knowledge including safe and proper chemical handling.
• Ability to create a proactive culture of safety by encouraging and involving all staff.
• Willingness to work in a plant environment as needed for scaling up products or processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead lab management including safety aspects, equipment maintenance, materials inventory, and chemical reconciliation.
• Maintain laboratories and equipment, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting of experimental equipment.
• Interact with facilities and outside contractors for machine and equipment repairs.
• Support engineers and scientists in R&D teams by conducting hands-on experimental work and documenting results.
• Prepare and process material samples for testing and development work.
• Execute and support commercial and manufacturing scale-up support requests.
