About The Position

The Biology Department at WashU in St Louis is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Senior Research Technician position in the laboratory of Kevin Cox. The position is funded through an HHMI grant to investigate the transcriptional regulation of cell-to-cell communication in plant stress response. The Cox Lab uses spatial and single-cell genomics, imaging, and molecular biology to uncover the spatial organization of genes in plants, with a core objective of unraveling the communication mechanisms within plant cells. The successful candidate will independently and in small groups perform complex research studies, experiments, and assays for this project.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex analysis/projects according to research protocols, explaining methods and procedures to other technicians.
  • Enters data and maintains current data files on research projects.
  • Monitors data to ensure consistent quality.
  • May perform preliminary statistical analysis of data.
  • Assures compliance with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assists in the training and development of technicians, acting as a group leader.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
