About The Position

The Senior Research Specialist at Emory University's School of Medicine - Pediatrics is responsible for independently performing a wide range of highly technical and complex research and laboratory tests and procedures. This role involves devising specialized research procedures using advanced techniques and equipment, providing input to protocol development, and serving as a technical resource for other research personnel. The specialist will analyze and interpret study results, investigate alternative approaches for quality improvement, and train staff in specialized procedures and theoretical concepts. Additionally, they will recommend new equipment and supplies, contribute to departmental goals, potentially assist in grant applications, review relevant literature, and prepare materials for publication or presentation. The position also includes overseeing quality assurance and monitoring the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances. Specific duties include conducting cell culture experiments with primary cells and performing molecular biology techniques such as ELISA, immunofluorescence, DNA/RNA extractions, western blots, and qPCR assays. This is an in-person position at an Emory University location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field and four years of research experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • May be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
