About the position

Curia provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. The Senior Research Scientist III, Biologics (SRSIII) is an experienced and knowledgeable scientific team member and also a team leader. The Senior Research Scientist III is a Subject Matter Expert on at least three topics that are relevant to Antibody Discovery, Engineering, and Characterization, such as in vitro discovery, affinity maturation, humanization, and surface plasmon resonance. The SRS III engages with clients to develop project Scopes of Work, serves as Study Director, and generates project updates and final reports. The SRS III independently designs and executes experiments, investigates new-knowledge and cost-saving research, follows complex protocols and troubleshoots, contributes to or leads projects involving multiple Curia business units, and trains less-experienced staff. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for display-based antibody discovery (phage and yeast); affinity maturation; antibody binding kinetics and epitope binning; and antibody humanization
  • Engage with clients to develop Scopes of Work
  • Serve as Study Director on antibody discovery, biophysical characterization, affinity maturation, and humanization projects
  • Lead a technical team
  • Design and perform experiments using Carterra LSA, Octet, and Gator equipment to determine antibody binding kinetics and epitope binning
  • Design and perform experiments for display-based antibody discovery (phage and yeast)
  • Design humanized antibody sequences and test for binding via SPR, BLI, ELISA, and/or FACS
  • Perform low and high through-put assays (e.g. ELISA, FACS) to assess antibody binding
  • Design and perform quantitative ELISA-based biofunction assays
  • Design and perform quantitative cellular biofunction assays that require FACS- or plate reader-based downstream analysis
  • Perform antibody sequence and liability analysis
  • Generate and present project updates and final reports
  • Maintain equipment and instruments following established procedures
  • Record data and assist with data analysis
  • Present work product at group meetings
  • Document experimental work in physical and/or digital laboratory notebooks
  • Maintain laboratory environment (control sample inventory and reagents)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Immunology or related field with a minimum of 14-19 years' experience in antibody discovery, analysis and characterization
  • OR a Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Immunology or related field with a minimum of 12-17 years' experience in antibody discovery, analysis and characterization
  • OR a PhD in Biology, Chemistry, Immunology or related field with a minimum of 9-14 years' experience in antibody discovery, analysis and characterization
