About The Position

The purpose of this position is to coordinate a comprehensive college tobacco prevention initiative across Texas. This project includes coordinating approaches with multiple partners and implementing diverse strategies to foster healthier tobacco-free campus cultures. The project also includes data analysis and management across projects.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public health, health behavior/health education, social sciences, or related field
  • Excellent organizational, written, presentation and communication skills
  • 2 + years of experience in project management and stakeholder engagement
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of tobacco prevention and control strategies and tobacco policies, especially in college settings
  • Survey administration and coordination
  • Experience in basic data analysis using statistical software such as R or SPSS
  • Experience in marketing/media campaign oversight

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of the project, including scheduling and participating in project meetings.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various public and private two- and four-year college systems within Texas.
  • Collaborate with other members of the UT Tobacco Research and Evaluation Team to ensure the sustainability of the team and assist with additional goals as needed.
  • Engage with colleges and universities across the state to support the development, implementation, and adoption of campus tobacco policies.
  • Provide strategic guidance and technical assistance to campus administrators, faculty advisors, and student leaders implementing tobacco prevention programming.
  • Incorporate tobacco education into college student orientation materials.
  • Maintain and systematically update a public-facing database of Texas college tobacco policies, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely annual reviews.
  • Additionally, conduct evaluations, analyses, and reporting requirements for external tobacco prevention and control partners in a timely manner, ensuring alignment with contractual deliverables and obligations.
  • Lead administration of large-scale surveys, including survey design, IRB coordination, sampling strategy, and data collection and analysis.
  • Work with graduate students to analyze data from statewide tobacco surveys and evaluation surveys.
  • Coordinate with students to collaborate on publications.
  • Maintain external partner relationships with MD Anderson, DSHS and colleges/universities as well as other organizations involved in tobacco prevention and control across Texas.
  • Serve as primary liaison to other state agencies, university leadership, and external partners.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of a prevention-based media plan and campaign specifically targeting college students in Texas, aimed at changing attitudes and norms regarding tobacco use.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations related to the media subaward while overseeing all website maintenance for the Peers website, the Peers curriculum website, and the Peers policy website to ensure consistent and effective communication of tobacco prevention efforts.
