About The Position

The Urban Transportation Center in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA) at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is currently seeking a Visiting Senior Transportation Planner. This position conducts research activities including the development of research ideas and proposals, and brings statistical modeling abilities to support policy research at UTC. The role involves leading ongoing research projects at UTC and pursuing new funding opportunities to build a sustainable research portfolio. Additionally, the position includes mentoring students involved in research activities at UTC, writing reports, and managing data as required by the principal investigator. The candidate will have the ability to lead projects and serve as a principal investigator or co-PI. This position is funded from grant money, and the expectation is that the chosen candidate will contribute to the Center's funding portfolio by creating their own research track while collaborating with the Center's staff and faculty. Relevant work experience in areas such as public transportation (micro-transit/micro-mobility), equity, and advances in transportation engineering such as autonomous vehicles and clean energy adoption is essential.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related discipline.
  • Relevant work experience in public transportation (micro-transit/micro-mobility), equity, and/or advances in transportation engineering such as autonomous vehicles and clean energy adoption.
  • Ten years of post-Ph.D. experience.
