About The Position

The Department of Electrical Engineering of University at Buffalo , is seeking a Senior Research Engineer to support research efforts in wireless Unmanned Aerial Vehicle ( UAV ) networking, the initial appointment is for one year, renewal is expected if progress is satisfactory, and funds are available. Duties in this role include: Conduct cutting-edge research in the development and operational management of microwave and mmWave software radio used for projects related to zero-touch wireless UAV networking. Conduct experimental and field work, including the design, fabrication, and test of UAVs and field experiments of the UAVs sensing and communications. Collaborate and communicate with internal and external collaborators on on-going projects. Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in academic journals and/or conference presentations. Participate in grant writing, including generating preliminary data, submitting grant applications, and preparing progress reports. Mentor students on related research projects. Requirements

  • Applicants must be eligible to work within the United States in a full time capacity without visa sponsorship. Please do not apply if you cannot satisfy this requirement.
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other closely related fields.
  • Strong track-record of first-author publications in reputable academic journals and conferences.
  • Hands-on experience in UAVs fabrication and test.
  • Solid background in wireless communications and networking.
  • Demonstrated expertise in experimental research in wireless communications and testbed development.
  • Solid knowledge of unmanned aerial vehicles, microwave and mmWaves, software development, and digital twin.
  • Solid knowledge of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning.
  • Proficient in C, C++, Python, and MATLAB .
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Proven experience in USRP , FPGA , NS-3, and NSF PAWR platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with DoD sponsored research projects.
  • Relevant practical laboratory work experience or directly related experience with research techniques.
  • Proven research experience in zero-touch wireless UAV networking.
  • Proven research experience in cloud computing.
  • Proven research experience in software defined radios.
