About The Position

ON-CALL SENIOR RESEARCH CONSULTANT The Workforce Innovations, Emergency Preparedness and Poverty Solutions (WIPPS) practice works to improve the conditions of America's most at-risk populations and provide strategic consulting support to workforce development agencies throughout the United States. The team provides rigorous technical assistance, training, and research support to address a diverse set of critical social issue areas including employment and workforce programs, health care emergency preparedness and critical infrastructure protection and planning, economic mobility, food security and fatherhood and family support initiatives. Our work is done in a professional, collegial, and intellectual environment that allows individuals the latitude they need to perform work that parallels their passions. Currently, we are seeking a candidate for an on-call research consultant position to contribute to our growing portfolio of Federal, state, and local workforce development and research projects. The successful candidate will join our team remotely and in an on-call capacity. This position is ON-CALL (part-time with variable hours) and work remote. Assignments are made on a demand-response basis so hours are completely variable.

Requirements

  • PhD in measurement and evaluation, political science, educational psychology, or related social services field.
  • Minimum 20 years of experience working with Federal and/or state workforce agencies, regional and local workforce entities, employers, community colleges, and/or nonprofits with a strong workforce development, economic transformation, and sector-based focus.
  • Expertise in leading and supporting systematic evidence reviews for federal and private sector clients across a range of human services topics.
  • Ability to work both independently and on a core team of staff members
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
  • Demonstrated experience showing strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills paired with a desire to take initiative
  • Strong presentation and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide methodological and research expertise and oversight of workforce projects, including designing and implementing evaluations, evidence reviews and research projects.
  • Provide training and capacity building in research methods and approaches to clients and staff.
  • Lead capture and develop winning proposals to continue project growth across Federal, state and commercial clients.
  • Provide writing and presentation support across an array of deliverables, analyses, program trends/outcomes reports, and stakeholder publications/products.
