About The Position

Ampersand is currently seeking a highly motivated scientist with a background in protein sciences to contribute to the discovery and development of AND-Body™ Therapeutics. The role will focus on antibody engineering, protein production and purification, and biochemical and biophysical characterization to support biologic therapeutics development.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant laboratory experience in an academic or industrial setting.
  • Experience in construct design, plasmid prep, and protein/nucleic acid sequence analysis.
  • Hands-on experience in protein expression and purification, including production in E. coli, mammalian, and/or cell-free systems.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in chromatography, including FPLC (ÄKTA) and HPLC using SEC, HIC, and IEX chromatography columns.
  • Practical experience with multiple biochemical and biophysical techniques, including SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, BLI, SPR, DSF, DSC, MS, AlphaLISA, and HTRF.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets using statistical software (e.g. Excel, GraphPad Prism).
  • Excellent data record keeping and organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly interpret data and present results to project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support the research team in protein production and characterization across multiple research programs.
  • Perform protein and antibody production activities, including cell culture, transfection, and protein purification.
  • Execute protein and antibody biophysical characterization using techniques such as SDS-PAGE, aSEC, BLI, SPR, DSF, DSC, cIEF and other emerging tools.
  • Optimize critical parameters for binding assays, including AlphaLISA and HTRF.
  • Perform ELISA assays to measure serum antibody titers and functional biomarkers.
  • Collaborate with team leads on antibody campaign efforts to support antibody discovery programs.
  • Maintain clear, effective communication and strong collaboration with cross-functional colleagues.
  • Ensure high standards of data integrity and maintain accurate and well-documented research records in electronic laboratory notebook (ELN).
