Senior Research Associate, Biologics

Triveni BioWatertown, MA
$95,000 - $102,000

About The Position

Triveni Bio is breaking new ground in the identification of novel disease targets – working at the convergence of human genetics, best-in-class antibody design, and precision medicine. We are pioneering a Mendelian genetics-informed precision medicine approach to develop functional antibodies for the treatment of immunological and inflammatory (I&I) disorders. Our lead antibody program (TRIV-509) targets kallikreins 5 and 7 (KLK5/7) to directly impact skin barrier function, inflammation, and itch – providing a meaningful and much needed potential treatment option for patients with atopic dermatitis and other barrier disorders. In all the work we do, we adhere to our core values: patient impact, bold and rigorous science, open collaboration, kindness & respect. Triveni Bio is in search of a motivated Sr. Research Associate to play an important role in advancing the organization’s biologics research and development activities. This position will be focused on the expression, purification, and characterization of monoclonal and bispecific antibodies and antigens using mammalian cell systems, ensuring the production of high-quality proteins. On a day-to-day basis, you will operate and maintain AKTA chromatography systems, employing multiple techniques such as affinity and size exclusion chromatography for purification. In addition to hands-on expression and purification, you will help manage external protein expression projects with CROs, ensuring timely delivery and quality of externally produced proteins. The role also involves conducting rigorous bioanalytical assays, including Biacore, analytical SEC, and ELISA/MSD, to characterize proteins and evaluate critical quality attributes. Lastly, this role supports preclinical activities by preparing protein samples for shipment to external collaborators and CROs and helping to maintain a comprehensive record of proteins in our internal inventory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience in protein expression, purification, and characterization.
  • Experience with monoclonal and bispecific antibodies is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with AKTA chromatography systems and proficiency in standard purification techniques such as affinity and SEC.
  • Familiarity with bioanalytical techniques, including Biacore, analytical SEC, SDS-PAGE, and ELISA/MSD.
  • Proficiency in data analysis/visualization software like GraphPad Prism and bioinformatics software for sequence analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Purify proteins using various techniques, including affinity chromatography and size-exclusion chromatography (SEC).
  • Characterize protein quality and behavior in solution using methods such as analytical SEC, SDS-PAGE, Biacore, ELISA, and activity assays.
  • Design, optimize, and implement experimental workflows for recombinant protein expression, primarily in mammalian cell lines.
  • Maintain mammalian cell cultures when required for internal protein expression.
  • Troubleshoot issues in protein expression, purification, and quality control workflows.
  • Manage and maintain the FPLC system, ensuring reliable operation and optimal performance to support protein purification workflows.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, prepare reports, and present findings to internal teams.

Benefits

  • This role also offers a competitive target bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • We are committed to fair pay practices, and we regularly review our compensation programs to ensure they are competitive, equitable, and aligned with our values.
