About The Position

Colossal is looking for a talented cell or developmental biologist with an interest in the manipulation of avian primordial germ cells. You will work closely with other lab team members in efforts to innovate on protocols of avian primordial germ cell culture, genome editing, and reintroduction into embryos using cutting edge technologies. This position is based out of Dallas, TX. Relocation assistance within the US is available.

Requirements

Experience manipulating embryos under a microscope
Experience in cell line derivation, culture, propagation, and transfection methodologies
Experience in molecular biology (nucleic and protein extraction, gel electrophoresis)
Experience with qPCR, FACS, flow cytometry, immunostaining, confocal microscopy
Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as creative problem-solving skills
BA/BS/MA/MS in biological sciences, developmental biology, bioengineering, molecular biology, genetics, or any science related field.
Relevant hands-on research experience in academia or industry is required.

Responsibilities

Test novel cell culture conditions, sort, screen, and expand avian primordial germ cells according to latest protocols and newly developed approaches
Using a dissection microscope, collect blood and tissue from avian embryos for use in cell line derivations.
Using a micropipette under a microscope, inject primordial germ cells into surrogate embryos
Work on project milestones
Attends lab meetings, prepares reports and presentations on the progress of projects
Great organizational skills and excellent laboratory record maintenance
