The Psychology Applied Research Center (PARC) in the Department of Psychological Sciences at LMU is seeking a senior research assistant (senior RA) to support community partnered research projects, such as CDPH's California Reducing Disparities Project and a study of homelessness in the City of LA. These research projects are focused on evaluating the impact of holistic approaches to preventing and addressing community violence. The senior RA will work under the supervision of senior team members Drs. Cheryl Grills, Elia De La Cruz Toledo He, Sandra Villanueva, and Diane Terry.

  • Conducts descriptive and inferential statistical analyses including learning new coding languages and/or creating original syntax or contributes to thematic coding of qualitative data.
  • Assists with data collection efforts with multiple community partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Manages quantitative or qualitative datasets, assists with implementation of quality control protocols, and develops and maintains electronic codebooks of all databases.
  • Assisting with the preparation of IRB applications, and in the development and management of data tracking tools.
  • Assisting with designing, formatting, developing, editing, and revising reports and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Typically a Master's Degree in Psychology, Sociology or Political Science or related field or equivalent work experience of four years or more in a research lab.
  • Experience in applied research relevant to center projects (e.g., health or mental health equity; environmental, systems and policy change; substance abuse prevention; etc.).
  • Previous research experience and experience with quantitative or qualitative research.
  • Assisting with and/or independently conducting advanced quantitative data analyses using SPSS, STATA, or R and/or qualitative data analyses using Dedoose, NViVo, Atlas.Ti or other software; can develop Excel databases using advanced formulas and functions.
  • Strong organizational skills and a track record of working collaboratively with others in professional or extracurricular settings.
  • Ability to be highly organized to facilitate record-keeping, data management, managing multiple responsibilities and collaboration with student research assistants. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • High intrinsic motivation and excellent self-management. Ability to take responsibility in meeting deadlines and making progress without direct supervision.
  • Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Salary range: $29.71 - $37.16, commensurate with education and experience.
