About The Position

The Senior Research Assistant will provide technical assistance to two laboratories. The Senior Research Assistant will independently conduct experiments in the general area of molecular and cell biology aimed at understanding retrotransposons in aging using mice and Alzheimer’s disease biomarker discovery in humans. This position will perform experiments involving molecular biology procedures related to high throughput sequencing, cell culture, and Alzheimer’s disease biomarker discovery. In addition, the Senior Research Assistant will collect, record, and interpret experimental findings including the acquisition and analysis of high throughput datasets, and contribute to the writing of grants and manuscripts in collaboration with the Principal Investigators. The primary purpose of this position is to help the labs make progress toward their research goals. The Senior Research Assistant will provide technical training and guidance to undergraduate research assistants and work closely with lab personnel to perform experiments. This is fixed term position with a current end date of 09/30/2027, which may be extended based upon available funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years of experience in a laboratory setting And/or the equivalent combination or education and experience
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory approaches and techniques in the areas of Molecular, Cell Biology and Biochemistry required.
  • Experience working with mouse colonies
  • Strong computer skills with experience with bioinformatic analysis of high throughput datasets.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with scientific databases
  • Experience with ImageJ / Jupiter / Python coding and knowledge of python, R, and java computer languages is desirable
  • Computational pipeline development experience is advantageous
