Senior Research Analyst – Private Company Research, Space & Defense
About The Position
Join J.P. Morgan’s Private Company Research team and help shape the future of investment insights. Be at the forefront of innovation, delivering high-impact research on private companies driving disruption in the Space & Defense sectors. As a Senior Research Analyst, you will lead coverage of leading private companies in Space & Defense, conducting deep research and analysis using a wide range of data sources. You will develop and communicate strategic insights into company performance and industry dynamics, produce differentiated research, and build relationships with investors, industry experts, and management teams. Your expertise will help drive investment decisions and support J.P. Morgan’s reputation for thoughtful, actionable research.
Requirements
- 8+ years’ experience in sell-side or buy-side research as an equity/credit analyst or strategist
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Passion for and understanding of emerging technologies
- Track record of building strong relationships with investors and company management
- Experience and relationships in the Aerospace & Defense industry
- Advanced proficiency in analytical, data, and market tools (e.g. Excel, Python, Bloomberg)
- FINRA licenses Series 86 and Series 87 and/or CFA
Nice To Haves
- Experience evaluating companies and technologies in the Aerospace or Defense sector or direct industry experience
- Ability to produce and market differentiated research products
- Strong project management and mentoring skills
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental company and industry research leveraging traditional and alternative sources
- Evaluate emerging technologies, business models, and companies in Space & Defense
- Build and maintain models to track company and industry dynamics
- Write research notes on covered companies and sectors
- Build relationships with internal and external clients, industry experts, and management teams
- Coach and train junior analysts
