About The Position

The Senior Remote Sensing Scientist at Leidos will provide expert support in remote sensing, focusing on the development and implementation of processes using advanced techniques such as Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (lnSAR). This role involves advising customers on remote sensing capabilities, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring high precision in geodetic survey requirements through effective data analysis and process optimization.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a BA degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of remote sensor and platform capabilities, including Synthetic Aperture Radar sensors.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience processing and analyzing lnSAR, including various technical processes.
  • Experience using lnSAR for 3D deformation analysis.
  • Experience applying geodetic and photogrammetric principles to co-register data sets to WGS 84.
  • Experience using lnSAR processing software like SNAP, SNAPHU, StaMPS, or similar.
  • Experience with remote sensing analysis software suites such as ERDAS IMAGINE, PCI Geomatics, or ESRI ArcGISPro.
  • Knowledge of digital data formats such as vector data, raster data, shape files, GML, XML.
  • Knowledge of software engineering and geomatics systems evaluation.
  • Experience developing project plans with milestones and deliverables.

Nice To Haves

  • STEM Degree with emphasis in remote sensing.
  • Geodetic surveying or land surveying experience or coursework.
  • Advanced knowledge of geodetic, photogrammetric, or statistical principles.
  • Familiarity with customer systems architecture, including unclassified cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop processes using remote methods, including lnSAR and other remote sensing methods.
  • Advise customers and SMEs on lnSAR capabilities and change detection.
  • Coordinate with customer Senior GEOINT Officers and other teams to gather technical requirements.
  • Utilize remote sensors and platforms for high precision change detection methods.
  • Provide statistical analysis of output data quality and uncertainties.
  • Evaluate emerging data and services for process inclusion.
  • Solicit feedback post-deployment and refine processes as needed.
  • Create or revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and geodetic standards.
  • Brief progress weekly at staff meetings and other forums.
  • Identify additional data sources and optimization methods for Geodetic Surveys processes.
