The Senior Relationship Manager is responsible for developing, managing, growing, and deepening relationships with business banking clients in the assigned business segment and/or geographic areas. Actively engages in the sales process of the assigned Region to ensure the attainment of the business bank, region, and individual goals and objectives, while adhering to WaFd Bank credit quality standards, risk management guidelines, and compliance. Manages and grows an extensive portfolio of business clients, with a focus on acquiring, deepening, and maintaining profitable client relationships through sales, prospecting and enhancing existing relationships. Analyzes financial statement reports, conducts thorough due diligence, assesses credit risk, and executes prudent and sound underwriting practices of loan proposals and recommendations to credit administration for review and approval. Monitors and manages an assigned loan portfolio and maintains awareness of the competitive landscape, company-specific developments, industry trends, economic factors, rates, and other changes in market conditions that may impact the credit strength of the portfolio. Works closely with existing and new clients to understand their specific financial requirements and provide effective solutions, while maintaining the credit quality standards of the bank. Executes consistent and systematic outbound sales strategies and business development efforts aimed to drive growth in business loans/lines and deposits, merchant processing, and treasury management product lines that drive profitability growth. Serves as the primary point of contact and is a trusted advisor to clients, deepening and maintaining profitable relationships. Identifies and develops new profitable relationships with prospects and clients consistent with the objectives of the bank through extensive business development activity. Supports other Relationship Managers, Analysts, and other colleagues to provide customers and prospects the solutions recommended. May occasionally assist business bankers and other relationship managers within their assigned area on calls to help them advance their skills. Participates in internal and external community activities as a representative of WaFd Bank, promoting the brand and attracting new colleagues and customers. Develops a strong understanding of WaFd Bank’s product offering and credit philosophy to more effectively assist in client calling efforts and to become a trusted advisor to clients. Negotiates transactions; documents and closes loan transactions, ensuring conformance with Bank policy and regulatory requirements. Exercises sound credit and risk judgment when making loan proposals. Recommends approval of credits meeting or exceeding the bank's credit standards. Ensures the quality of all business introduced to the Bank. Represents the Bank by actively participating in outside civic and community affairs, business and industry-related organizations, and other professional activities as appropriate. Executes on the strategic plan developed by the Regional President and Executive Director. Interfaces with other Bank departments including the branches within their assigned area as necessary. Takes a lead role in defining responsibilities and coordinating objectives for all product areas in a relationship or transaction, particularly deposits and treasury management products. Resolves all client needs and any internal friction points. Adheres to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations. Other duties as assigned.
