About The Position

The Senior Relationship Manager, SBA is responsible for loan production of SBA 7a loans / Express loans. This role involves generating new small business relationships for Wintrust Community Banks through the utilization of the SBA loan programs and Wintrust treasury management services. The manager will create and maintain relationships with community bankers and business bankers within Wintrust Community Banks, and when appropriate, introduce other Wintrust partners to small business contacts, prospects, and bank customers. The position requires evaluating SBA loan requests using a thorough knowledge of loan policy, guidelines, procedures, and SBA standard operating procedures. The manager will also analyze industries, assess risks, monitor borrower reporting, and ensure compliance with fair lending issues and regulations. Effective time management and communication with all levels of management are essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a business-related field such as accounting or finance.
  • 5+ years combined relationship management/lending, commercial underwriting, small business banking experience.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to problem solve and comprehend SBA manuals and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new small business relationships for Wintrust Community Banks through SBA loan programs and treasury management services.
  • Create and maintain relationships with community bankers and business bankers within Wintrust Community Banks.
  • Introduce other Wintrust partners to small business contacts, prospects, and bank customers when appropriate.
  • Evaluate SBA loan requests using knowledge of loan policy, guidelines, procedures, and SBA standard operating procedures.
  • Commence underwriting, SBA eligibility, and closing process if appropriate.
  • Analyze industries and assess risks associated with those industries.
  • Suggest appropriate financing structures based on risk assessment.
  • Monitor tickler system report for accurate tracking and reporting of borrower required reporting.
  • Take proactive steps to remedy exceptions and minimize them.
  • Exhibit knowledge of fair lending issues and regulations impacting commercial lending.
  • Demonstrate effective time management by balancing multiple priorities.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with all levels of management.
