About The Position

The Senior Accountant at Athene will coordinate the reinsurance process for specific treaties, focusing on the execution, review, and analysis of complex settlements. This role requires independent work with various teams and leaders within the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting related to reinsurance activities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of related experience required, preferably in public accounting or the insurance industry.
• Strong analytical skills to identify, research, and develop solutions to accounting issues.
• Experience in statutory or US GAAP accounting in a life insurance company is helpful but not required.
• Experience with Oracle, Essbase, and Hyperion is helpful.
• Completion of or interest in acquiring CPA and/or FLMI designations is preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office products such as Word and Excel.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Maintains and prepares complex reinsurance settlements for assigned agreements, coordinating work requirements for other teams.
• Prepares journal entries and analyzes the results of the settlements.
• Helps in the development and maintenance of the automated reinsurance accounting system.
• Develops a strong understanding of the mechanics of the assigned reinsurance agreements.
• Proactively researches and resolves variances and inconsistencies noted in settlements by investigating and analyzing results.
• Responds to departmental requests involving reinsurance information.
• Performs analysis and reconciliations of complex balance sheet accounts.
• Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of month and quarter close activities.
• Acts as a first-level contact with assigned internal and external reinsurance team members.
• Assists with departmental projects as assigned.
