About The Position

The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual for the position of Senior Registered Nurse Supervisor at the Baldomero Lopez State Veterans' Nursing Home in Land O’ Lakes, Pasco County. This role involves providing quality professional care to veteran residents, ensuring their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and the Nurse Practice Act. The position requires supervision of direct care personnel, administration of medications and treatments, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. The working shifts are from 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM and 10:45 PM to 7:15 AM.

Requirements

  • Valid Licensure as a State of Florida Registered Nurse.
  • Three (3) years of professional nursing, psychiatric nursing, or nursing instruction experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and basic computer skills.
  • Successful completion of a Level II Background Screening including fingerprinting and a Drug Test.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a long-term health care environment with a geriatric population.
  • Nursing supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality professional care to veteran residents.
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of the resident population.
  • Administer medications and treatments per MD order.
  • Monitor and provide interventions to meet the needs of residents.
  • Complete accurate clinical documentation reflective of residents' current status.
  • Supervise direct care personnel on an assigned shift.
  • Ensure nursing personnel are following their job descriptions.
  • Review shift assignments and ensure they meet residents' nursing care needs.
  • Notify Administrator and/or DON of any emergency situations.
  • Make daily rounds to observe residents and determine if nursing needs are being met.
  • Maintain standards of nursing care and implement facility policies and procedures.
  • Review and follow-up on incidents and/or complaints occurring on assigned tour of duty.
  • Assist Nursing Program Specialist in ensuring assessments are completed prior to Care Plan meetings.
  • Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure equipment is maintained safely.
  • Actively participate in continuing educational programs for self-development.
