  • Serves as a patient advocate, focusing on patient needs, rights, and confidentiality.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with all Parkland internal and external customers.
  • Provides patient care educational information and training for patients and family members.
  • Maintains and implements knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact nursing practice.
  • Performs appropriate patient assessments and participates in Universal Protocol.
  • Provides Phase I (postoperative recovery) to adult and pediatric patients.
  • Provides safe medication administration and appropriate pain management.
  • Completes appropriate documentation and maintains accurate patient care records.
  • Serves as a preceptor to onboarding nursing staff members.
  • Identifies ways to improve processes and patient/customer satisfaction.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments in peri anesthesia nursing practice.
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must have minimum two (2) years Phase I PACU, ICU, or ED experience.
  • Must have current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing or valid Compact RN license.
  • Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card.
  • Must have current Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Must have current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
  • Demonstrates clinical proficiency in post anesthesia care.
  • Possesses effective interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities.
