About The Position

As a Senior Refrigeration Project Engineer, you will lead a refrigeration design team and manage engineering projects from conception through completion. You will leverage your expertise in refrigeration and controls design, construction, and installation to deliver high-quality, code-compliant solutions. As part of a multi-disciplined firm, you will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and structural engineers, architects, and construction project managers. You will be responsible for the production, coordination, and quality control of refrigeration engineering construction documents while ensuring alignment with client requirements, code compliance, and site-specific adaptations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related discipline) required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • 8 + years of experience in refrigeration system design and preparation of construction documents, preferably for commercial projects such as retail grocery supermarkets or cold storage facilities.
  • Proven experience managing teams and delivering projects from design through construction support.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site investigations and prepare reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Produce design plans, calculations, and reports with limited direction.
  • Coordinate with sub-consultants and multi-discipline team members.
  • Interact directly with clients, providing support and technical guidance.
  • Develop and manage phase- and task-level budgets and schedules.
  • Plan, assign, and supervise production staff, leading them through design tasks.
  • Coordinate responses to addenda, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Assist with proposals and scope development for new projects.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation.
  • Ensure constructability and technical accuracy of design deliverables.
  • Apply knowledge of liability issues and risk management in design decisions.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and technical leadership for refrigeration staff.
