About The Position

The Senior Recruiter – Engineering is an onsite position responsible for spearheading recruitment efforts for the department’s candidate pipeline and recruiting needs. This role will play a pivotal role in identifying, processing, and tracking candidates in support of Austal USA's Design and Engineering Team, as well as helping to manage our Designer Apprenticeship Program. Collaborating closely with teammates in Talent Acquisition and Workforce Development —as well as industry partners—the Senior Recruiter will focus on sourcing top talent for development initiatives while driving external recruitment strategies to meet program needs effectively. REPORTS TO: Talent Acquisition Manager / Director of Talent Acquisition

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Organizational Development, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years’ progressive recruitment experience in a high-volume, fast-paced, outward facing environment with varied business objectives and shifting recruiting priorities.
  • Knowledge/Experience with Engineering recruiting preferred.
  • Additional outward-facing experience with cold-calling, in-person recruiting and/or selling activities, and/or negotiating experiences preferred.
  • Must be comfortable cold-calling and possess interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of people each day, establish credibility and candor with candidates, and hiring managers, and proactively network to achieve the organization’s goals.
  • Proven track record for producing hiring results; demonstrated success in developing and maintaining professional contacts.
  • Possess a strong process orientation and demonstrated experience in a quality improvement corporate staffing and recruitment environment.
  • Must maintain strictest level of confidentiality.
  • Possess excellent sales, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledgeable in, and able to apply, constructs of various Federal, State, and Local employment laws and regulations, including the FCRA and laws enforced by the OFCCP and EEOC.
  • Knowledgeable of the functions and capabilities of an applicant tracking system, (ATS) and Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products with strong experience with Excel.
  • Exposure to the process of developing an employment brand with experience ensuring that this message is consistent across the organization is preferred.

  • Position requires travel of up to 10 % of the time
  • Must be able to tour all vessels and work sites.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk.
  • Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards.
  • Ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures.
  • Able to respond to verbal and audible sounds/commands.
  • Able to utilize adequate visual skills.
  • Must comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations while performing daily job tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead with a culture based on people and processes.
  • Create and maintain effective communication channels with hiring managers and business leadership to 1) timely relay status of recruitment activities; and 2) educate on best practices in sourcing, legal requirements, interviewing skills, developmental programs and other related topics.
  • Partner with Leadership team and HR Partners to identify appropriate steps for internal moves including programs for succession planning, development planning, job rotation, etc.
  • Lead the department’s internal and external recruitment efforts, including routine follow up with Hiring Managers, to attract diverse talent to meet the various staffing goals across all levels within multiple departments.
  • Assist with all training activities for new team members within the Recruiting department.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation of systems and processes to ensure quality and integrity of data to support fluid talent pipeline.
  • Develop and execute the company's diversity recruitment strategy and goals to deliver upon key compliance objectives in areas of OFCCP, FCRA, EEO, etc.
  • Develop relationships with colleges, universities, and other professional organizations to ensure an open pipeline of diverse candidates.
  • Support affirmative action team to complete timely submissions of affirmative action plan.
  • Implement routine audits of Recruitment administrative process; ensuring proper documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support at after hours and weekend events, as needed, to aid in the support of hiring and training initiatives.
  • Build good working relationships with recruitment agencies and contract staffing companies.
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency to meet the needs of the organization with staffing.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
