About The Position

Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building. Follows departmental policies and procedures. Contributes to the overall quality of services. Assumes responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures. Meets the goals and needs of the clients to ensure safe and positive client outcomes. Researches sources to gather required information for licensed therapist. Assists with client instruction under the supervision of a licensed therapist. Interfaces with clients thru scheduling, processing payments, and conducting satisfaction surveys. Recognizes and responds expediently to emergency or potentially dangerous situations. Utilizes therapeutic equipment safely and as instructed by the recreation therapist. Notifies coworkers and arranges coverage of work responsibilities when scheduled to be absent Keeps inventory of departmental supplies and distributes supplies received. Maintains departmental statistics and logs them into computer as applicable. Assists in maintenance of client records. Processes client fees according to departmental policies/procedures. Monitors time and attendance reporting for department. Conducts errands as requested. Prepares financial and productivity reports. Onboards and provides orientation for volunteers, work-study students and clinical interns Maintains orderly condition of treatment and exercise areas. Retrieves supplies and equipment for therapists as requested. Monitors clean linen use and adjusts supply to demand. Adheres to and documents compliance with infection control policies and procedures for routine, scheduled or requested cleaning of client care equipment. Conducts required audits of emergency medical equipment and logs results Interfaces with clients to ensure accuracy of appointment times and encoded client form information. Completes rescheduling assignments as necessary due to therapist absence or client needs. Maintains accurate records of client attendance. Maintains therapist schedules. Interfaces with community providers to promote and book client services. Reviews in timely manner items in the charge review and billing work queues. Works with supervisor to edit and correct inaccurate charge details and account codes Communicates in a professional and timely manner with clients, staff and external customers. Maintains departmental website with current and accurate information. Interfaces with donors and processes donations in timely and accurate manner. Schedules performances for designated patient care areas, advertises program, meets and greets performers and assist with set up and client interaction. Arranges meetings and meeting space. Onboards clinical students ensuring hospital and departmental policies/procedures are followed. Works with departmental contractual employees to onboard staff, maintain compliance with hospital and departmental policies and ensure work areas are fully functional Promotes professional growth and provides community education and/or committee representation. Self-initiates scheduling of continuing education to improve client skills and departmental operations. Shares information obtained from continuing education with staff to improve service delivery. Represents department at internal and community based events and on assigned committees. Provides input for departmental training needs. Demonstrates willingness to learn new tasks Performs other position related duties as assigned. Develops and implements methods to improve efficiencies and customer service. Recognizes problems and suggests possible solutions. Contributes to the overall quality of services by serving as a courteous and cooperative liaison between clients, medical staff and outside agencies. Anticipates workflow and prepares accordingly Provides appropriate client care in accordance with age/developmental guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge of age/developmentally specific skills necessary to provide support services. Skills also include physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs. Maintains competence related to age/developmentally specific client care by updating knowledge of growth and development, and the aging process

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and CPR for Healthcare Professionals, Level C required.
