About The Position

The Senior Recreation Therapist at the Greater Binghamton Health Center is responsible for providing therapeutic and rehabilitative recreation services to individuals with mental illness. This role involves developing, implementing, and delivering recreation therapy services tailored to the needs of clients, ensuring their physical and rehabilitative needs are met through various activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation or related field and 2 years of post-degree professional experience in therapeutic program planning and administration.
• Master's degree in therapeutic recreation or related field and 1 year of post-degree professional experience in therapeutic program planning and administration.
• Licensure and current registration as a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) in New York State or equivalent certifications can substitute for one year of post-degree professional experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with geriatric populations or individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
• Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and deliver recreation therapy services.
• Modify activities based on individuals' physical activity and/or rehabilitative needs.
• Observe and record individuals' progress, responses, and behaviors.
• Maintain records and documentation in accordance with program standards and requirements.
• Design and administer individual and group programs.
