About The Position

This position is responsible for obtaining medical records and imaging in advance of new patients’ first visit in the Department of Otolaryngology. The role involves contacting referring provider offices and imaging facilities to request patient medical records and imaging files. It also includes loading imaging files from discs or via PowerShare software, documenting record collection efforts in patient charts, and monitoring various correspondence methods for updates on record requests. The individual must effectively follow through on requests to ensure records are received and attend meetings as required, performing other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two years of experience in Bookkeeping/Accounting And/Or Medical Collection Setting.
  • Communication skills.
  • Computer Literacy.
  • Confidentiality.
  • Office Equipment proficiency.
  • Telephone System proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Contacts referring provider offices to request patient medical records.
  • Requests imaging files from imaging facilities.
  • Loads imaging files from discs or pushed from other entities via PowerShare software.
  • Adds detailed documentation of record collection efforts in patient chart.
  • Monitors correspondence methods (Epic chat, Epic in basket, Outlook email) for updates regarding record requests.
  • Effectively follow through on requests ensuring records have been received.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
