Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year of customer service or related experience are required.
  • May require KS/MO driver's license, depending on department or agency.
  • Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of public sector administration.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic and office equipment.
  • Two years law enforcement clerical experience.
  • Knowledge of JIMS, REJIS, and KDOR databases.

Responsibilities

  • Handle court-related civil documents, ensuring statutory compliance and agency policy adherence.
  • Review documents, resolve discrepancies or reject inaccurate/incomplete paperwork, and communicate with plaintiffs, defendants, attorneys, and judges.
  • Manage civil process documents within multiple Records Management Systems, ensuring accuracy and statutory deadlines.
  • Coordinate with the Clerk's Office, attorneys, and officers to monitor service status and record accurate return information.
  • Manage high data volumes across multiple systems, performing accurate entry, correcting discrepancies, analyzing trends, and ensuring timely updates to court records.
  • Operate autonomously to resolve document discrepancies, uphold statutory standards, and address complex inquiries or complaints.
  • Provide customer support, answering calls, greeting visitors, and responding to inquiries across various channels.
  • Act as a civil issues liaison, referring customers to external agencies when necessary.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure operational continuity, adapt to shifting priorities and cover absences.
  • Manage forms, coordinate with the Clerk's Office, and engage external agencies on civil matters.
  • Provide database and policy training, adjusting to staff needs to ensure understanding of procedures, policies, and systems.
  • Manage the acceptance, processing and issuance of court orders, including Chapter 60 and 61 papers, subpoenas, foreclosures, and protection orders.
  • Schedule sales, update NCIC records, issue electronic garnishments, and verify document accuracy on service and returns.
  • Calculate Sheriff's Fees, perform audits and reconciliations, address discrepancies, and prepare deposits.
  • Cover for team members, including answering phones and responding to inquiries.
  • Support a respectful and collaborative team environment, working cooperatively to meet team needs.
