The Senior Radio Communications Systems Engineer serves as a technical lead, driving engineering projects and delivers expert-level support for the County's radio communications infrastructure. This position works within the Sheriff's Office's Wireless Services Division, and the role will blend engineering, analytical, and project management into the County's radio communications systems. This includes analyzing, coordinating, designing, and maintaining telecommunications systems, equipment, and associated circuits for the transmission, reception, and display of voice, data, and other information on wireless communication systems. This position will also collaborate with personnel within the Sheriff's Wireless Services Division to execute system upgrades, implement new technologies, and configure engineered solutions with both existing and new communications systems. The Sheriff's Wireless Services Division operates and maintains the San Diego County - Imperial County Regional Communications System (RCS) Public safety P25 radio network, which provides public safety radio communications service to more than 20,000 subscriber radios across both counties.
