About The Position

We are looking for a Sr. R D Technologist for our Plymouth MI facility. In this role you will support the project goals and objectives of the R D Project Engineers by performing engineering technician duties and giving input based on practical knowledge and experience. Supports R D Project Engineers in creating test plans for the development of powders and/or to test or optimize Lab equipment (e.g., improving R D Vacuum Atomizer throughput and its daily operation). Manufactures developmental (test and prototype) atomized powders based on requirements (e.g., information received as test plan or specifications) and documents results.

Requirements

  • Must have experience loading and unloading a tractor trailer with forklift.
  • Available to work overtime based on demand.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Knowledge equivalent to high school, industrial or trade training.
  • Must be able to read and understand instructions in English.
  • 3+ years of Material Handling/Warehouse Associate experience involving picking, packing and put away of materials in production operations.
  • 3+ years of SAP experience with preference to those with Process Weaver experience.
  • Must have general computer skills (Windows, Internet, Office/ Excel).
  • Proficient in SAP and Process Weaver.
  • Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision while coordinating freight forwarders.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with managers, supervisors, co-workers, and customers in a positive-friendly manner.
  • Operates lab equipment (hands-on) for test powder manufacturing, such as Vacuum Atomizer, screening & blending equipment, Rotap sieve system, air classifier, Tap Density.
  • Carries out analytical tests for powder characterization (e.g., Microtrac, Hall Flow, Rotap sieve analysis).
  • Performs preventative maintenance on vacuum atomizer, lab equipment and is involved in organizing or carrying out repairs or maintenance activities.
  • Documents all results and process steps related to powder prototype-manufacturing.
  • Organizes or supports creation of shipping or analytical documentation for processing and shipping experimental powders to customers (both domestic and overseas).
  • Inventory control of developed powder samples.
  • Be willing to cross-train in other areas and departments to broaden your capabilities and assist with the overall performance of the company.
  • Supports (if needed hands-on) the scale-up of new powders in production.
  • Support EIGA1 and EIGA2 R D trials.
