ATI is a global manufacturer of technically advanced specialty materials and complex components. Our products support diverse markets and industries such as aerospace and defense, oil & gas, electrical energy, medical, automotive, and other industrial markets. The position involves developing and improving nickel-base superalloy, specialty steel, titanium, powder metallurgy, and additive manufacturing products and their processing technology. The successful candidate will become a recognized metallurgical expert in nickel-based superalloys and/or manufacturing processes.

  • Develop and improve nickel-base superalloy, specialty steel, titanium, powder metallurgy, and additive manufacturing products and their processing technology.
  • Conduct testing and characterization to provide expert, timely materials solutions to internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical marketing support to the Business Development organization through customer visits and targeted technical support.
  • Communicate results to management, colleagues, and customers in the form of written reports and oral presentations.
  • Propose, defend and execute project concepts for new products, cost savings, quality improvement, and process innovation.
  • Collaborate with technology and research colleagues across ATI.
  • Maintain industry expertise and current knowledge of developments in Ni-base superalloy, specialty steel, titanium, or powder metallurgy and additive manufacturing.
  • Meet with customers, present at technical meetings, and be willing to travel six to twelve times per year.
  • Enthusiastically tackle challenges and achieve results while dealing with ambiguity and change in a research environment.
  • MS in materials science and engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in the field of specialty materials, Ni-base superalloys, titanium alloys, specialty steels, and metal powders.
  • Demonstrated experience/expertise in researching, developing, specifying, or utilizing specialty alloys and powder metals such as nickel-base superalloys, specialty steels, titanium, or other aerospace metals.
  • MS or Ph.D. in materials science and engineering or related discipline is preferred.
