About The Position

The Senior Quality Inspector serves as a technical expert responsible for developing inspection programs, leading complex measurement activities, and ensuring that materials, components, and finished products meet mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic specifications. This role provides advanced support for supplier quality, calibration programs, ISO compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Inspector II mentors team members, leads troubleshooting efforts, and collaborates with cross‑functional stakeholders to strengthen overall product quality and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience; certifications in metrology, quality inspection, or related disciplines preferred.
  • Mathematical abilities including; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and basic trigonometry.
  • Ability to understand and properly apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of basic electronic principles and identification of active and passive components.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interface confidently and professionally with internal teams, external suppliers, and calibration partners. Demonstrated capability to convey technical information clearly, influence cross‑functional decision‑making, and represent the quality function in high‑visibility discussions.
  • Thorough understanding of metrology and calibration practices, with the ability to perform and document internal calibrations.
  • Proficient with precision measurement tools, including micro meters, callipers, optical comparators, templates, checking fixtures, CMM/IMM systems, gage blocks, and volt‑ohm meters.
  • Ability to interpret written, verbal, diagrammatic, and schedule‑based instructions.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; able to work independently and make sound quality decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain inspection procedures for material, component, and product inspection and testing.
  • Create, optimize, and validate CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and IMM (Image Measuring Machine) programs for advanced measurement requirements.
  • Independently inspect, test, and sample materials, parts, and products to identify defects and ensure adherence to assembly, mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic specifications.
  • Follow and enforce documentation requirements to communicate nonconformances, discrepancies, and deviations to internal teams.
  • Lead root cause analysis activities for discrepant materials, including issues originating at the supplier level, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, and implement process improvements to support ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform, oversee, and develop procedures for the calibration and verification of production and inspection equipment; track calibration schedules and ensure compliance.
  • Support and help maintain ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality and environmental management system activities.
  • Train and mentor new hires and junior inspectors in inspection techniques, measurement tools, and quality procedures.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert for inspection methodologies, calibration practices, and measurement systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, supply chain, quality, and supplier management teams to resolve issues and support product development and manufacturing.
  • Read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, including tolerances, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
