About The Position

The Senior Quality Engineer will lead production investigations and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest quality products are delivered to customers. This role is critical in maintaining quality standards, driving process improvements, and supporting product reliability and compliance initiatives. This position reports directly to the Quality Manager and works closely with all departments at Kidde Fenwal, including Operations, Process Engineering, and Design Engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Quality or Manufacturing Engineering roles.
  • Proficiency in analyzing manufacturing and engineering drawings (legacy and current).
  • Skilled in using standard measurement equipment such as optical comparators, verniers, micrometers, height gauges, and other hand tools.
  • Experience with CMMs and automated optical measurement systems is helpful but not required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with manufacturing ERP systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of standard steel and brass manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments, including Production, Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, and Product Management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to create comprehensive engineering reports and presentations that clearly communicate findings, data, and recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for production issues related to assemblies, tests, and components.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems for materials, processes, and finished products.
  • Collaborate with Product Design and Engineering teams to develop testing plans, methods, and equipment that ensure product reliability and compliance.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure quality standards and protocols are effectively applied and maintained.
  • Verify that project and process control documentation meets applicable requirements, objectives, and contracts.
  • Identify and manage risks throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Develop and drive proactive quality initiatives to prevent defects and improve processes.
  • Conduct escape management procedures and root cause analyses; recommend and implement corrective actions for internally produced products and processes.
  • Support product and process changes to address quality-related issues and business needs.
  • Develop and implement new inspection technologies or methodologies to ensure product conformance.
  • May manage small projects or processes.
