About The Position

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will work directly with the customer's quality group to address and resolve quality issues. Your role will involve consulting management when necessary, determining root causes for quality defects, and providing oral presentations on quality-related matters. You will also obtain customer approvals, coordinate material movement, oversee data collection, and interpret results to drive improvements. Inspecting and testing materials for accuracy, evaluating '8D' responses, and communicating quality control information are key aspects of this role. Additionally, you will produce quality reports, assist with training, and mentor new quality engineers, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Quality engineering and root cause analysis.
  • 2-6+ years of experience in automotive quality engineering.
  • Customer-facing experience with an automotive OEM.
  • Experience with quality defects, 5S, supplier quality, quality assurance, and quality control.
  • Development of corrective action plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, industrial technology, manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
  • 4-6 years in the Quality field with 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous automotive experience preferred.
  • Spanish language skills helpful but not required.
  • Experience with Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • V-Ridge or AutoCad experience preferred but not required.
  • Capable of using basic measurement devices such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods with limited notice.
  • Flexibility to work any assigned shift.
  • Must pass the Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue test every 2 years with a minimum score of 50.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the customer's quality group and respond to quality issues.
  • Address and fulfill customer requests, consulting management when necessary.
  • Determine root cause for quality defects onsite.
  • Provide oral presentations on quality-related issues.
  • Obtain customer approval for control of parts.
  • Issue Quality Concerns as needed.
  • Coordinate material movement between manufacturing plant and OEM facility.
  • Oversee data collection and interpretation to coordinate improvement efforts.
  • Inspect and test materials for aesthetic and dimensional accuracy.
  • Evaluate the results of '8D' response for acceptability or corrective action.
  • Communicate quality control information to relevant departments and outside vendors.
  • Produce reports on nonconformance of products, daily production quality, root cause analyses, or quality trends.
  • Assist with training Quality associates.
  • Follow established work practices supporting compliance with company policies, safety standards, 5S practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor new quality engineers in company procedures, engineering principles, and work practices.
