Senior Quality Engineer (Tooling) Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Tooling Quality Engineer to join our Quality Team located in Mesa, AZ! This position will be supporting Air Dominance Proprietary programs and be responsible for: Responsible for ensuring tooling and process quality for composite fabrication, including design verification, incoming tooling inspection, process control, NCR disposition, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement to meet part requirements, schedule, and cost targets. Performing Tooling inspection Performing RCCA on tooling nonconformances Supporting tooling fabrication and determine compliance to engineering and QMS requirements Collaborate with other engineering support functions to resolve tooling nonconformances / challenges in composite manufacturing (or similar manufacturing) Successful candidates will have strong background in and knowledge of tooling fabrication techniques and the tools used for fabrication, rework, modification and maintenance. Position Responsibilities: Inspect, qualify, and release composite production and assembly tooling using GD&T, first article inspection (FAI), and control plans Develop and execute inspection plans, PFMEA inputs, and sampling strategies for tooling and fixtures Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for tooling- and process-related nonconformances Support tool design reviews, supplier quality oversight, and incoming tool acceptance Maintain inspection records, calibration status, and tool master data Implement continuous improvement projects to reduce scrap, rework, and inspection cycle time Leads integration of contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation. Provides interpretation of complex requirements. Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for large programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements. Develops Quality criteria to support supplier selection activities. Leads various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs. Develops and selects methods for analysis, testing and audit to ensure manufacturing and test readiness. Works under minimal direction.

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science or computer science
  • More than 5 years of experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes and implementing corrective actions
  • Experience in auditing to quality system standards
  • More than 3 years of experience in fabrication tooling, working with tooling and tooling processes, or working in a tooling technical field
  • More than 3 years of experience with tooling inspection
  • Level 5: More than 10 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienc e
  • Active U.S Security Clearance
  • Experience with tooling making or tool inspection
  • Experience operating metrology devices such as CMM, Arm, or Laser Tracker using CAD-based metrology software
  • Experience with developing and executing tooling audits and RCCAs
  • Experience working with Supplier Quality processes
  • Experience conducting Inspections using ASME Standards for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Experience with inspection software (PC-DMIS, PolyWorks) and PLM/MRP systems
  • Experience working with Unigraphics (UG)/NX CAD drawings, Vericut and/or similar programs
  • Experience in Model Based Definition (MBD)
  • Experience with Composites Manufacturing
  • Experience in presenting data to senior leadership
