PrePass has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer in the transportation industry. This role plays a key part in enhancing software quality by embedding quality engineering and automation best practices throughout the SDLC. The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining automated tests, participating in code reviews, identifying bugs, and ensuring the highest quality of software releases. This position collaborates closely with QA engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and maintainable automation solutions. This role works with a variety of modern technologies, including .NET, Visual Studio, MS SQL, MVC, WCF, web and API platforms, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, and mobile technologies such as native iOS and Android applications. Additionally, the Senior Quality Assurance Engineer mentors and supports QA team members to align with organizational quality goals. This is a hybrid position based out of our downtown Phoenix corporate office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including 3+ years in test automation
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript
  • Strong knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Playwright)
  • Experience with REST API testing tools like Postman, Karate, REST Assured, or Ready API
  • Experience validating and testing backend data pipelines in Databricks, including data quality, transformations, and ETL workflows
  • Familiarity with test frameworks like JUnit, TestNG, Pytest, or Mocha
  • Good understanding of version control systems such as Git
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
  • Good knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, or SQLite
  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and software testing life cycle (STLC)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with BDD frameworks like Cucumber or Spec Flow
  • Knowledge of performance/load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, k6)
  • Experience testing mobile applications (iOS/Android)
  • Exposure to containerization tools like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB
  • Familiarity with Contract Testing
  • Experience testing backend ETL data pipelines

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
  • Conduct smoke, functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing
  • Perform exploratory testing to identify edge cases and defects missed by automated tests
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in test automation and quality engineering
  • Write and execute detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases for web, API, and backend applications using test management tools such as Microsoft Azure DevOps and JIRA-Xray
  • Perform API testing using tools like Postman, ReadyAPI, Karate, REST Assured, or similar
  • Debug, analyze, and report issues and track them through resolution
  • Track and report key QA metrics, including defect leakage rate, test automation coverage, and test cycle time
  • Design, execute, and maintain tests for backend data pipelines in Databricks, validating data transformations, ETL processes, and data quality
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA team members to understand requirements and ensure complete test coverage
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining high code quality
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives), providing QA insights and ensuring quality alignment
  • Mentor and support QA team members to align with organizational quality goals
