Runwise is looking for a Senior Python Engineer focusing on controlling building systems to join one of the largest and fastest-growing energy tech companies in the US. Runwise has offices in New York and Boston but is a remote-first product/engineering company, and has been since its creation. As a Senior Python Engineer at Runwise, you will be responsible for helping design, test, and implement the core software embedded in our controls in 7500+ buildings. This is a continuously running application that evaluates rules and gathers data to support them in order to make decisions for whether a building system should be turned on or adjusted. You will have the opportunity to help a variety of property companies from large well-known owners (like Related, Blackstone, Douglas Elliman, Lefrak) to individual co-ops and condos effectively run their heating, cooling, electric, and water systems more efficiently while making tenants more comfortable. Runwise (www.runwise.com) is a fast-paced, customer-focused climate-tech startup that controls and runs the key energy systems (heating, water, etc…) in 7500+ buildings throughout the US. Runwise’s unique hardware and software service significantly reduces energy usage, substantially lowering costs and carbon output. As of today, Runwise’s technology takes the equivalent of 80,000 cars worth of carbon emissions off the road each year.

  • Being a contributor to our Python application powering our computers that execute climate control algorithms and process live data from sensor networks in buildings
  • Writing multithreaded Python code that enables to process inputs and execute algorithms that make decisions on the next action to perform
  • Writing code that efficiently and intelligently processes billions of data points per year
  • 5+ years of hands on experience writing multi threaded code in Python
  • Passionate about building new products and coming up with solutions that increase energy efficiency
  • Experience modifying by adding new features in a large scale software system
