The Enterprise Data and AI organization unites the data governance, strategy, engineering, and product teams with those responsible for AI engineering, generative AI enablement, and automation product and engineering. This group plays a pivotal role in leveraging data as a core driver of innovation and integrating AI capabilities to transform products, operations, and customer experiences. The EDAI organization also incorporates technology Research & Development and experimentation with emerging capabilities, along with engineering support for Amex Digital Labs. This integration ensures that research breakthroughs seamlessly translate into business impact. On any given day, you might: Bring a strong technical foundation; able to engage the team on coding practices, architecture, design, get under the hood of complex frameworks, tools, and platforms Collaborate successfully with product owners, designers, and a broad set of internal Technical partners (across multiple internal groups) Ensure product releases are high quality, deliver excellent user experiences, perform seamlessly at scale, and comply with regulatory requirements. Partner with peers in technologies to identify opportunities for code sharing, common services, joint development, etc. Keep up with the latest industry research and emerging technologies to ensure we are appropriately leveraging new techniques and capabilities. Demonstrate accountability while leading people with passion, enthusiasm, loyalty and integrity. Own and lead HR processes such as performance reviews, talent development, etc. Drive and empower implementation with emerging technologies including GenAI, with tooling, frameworks, guardrails, models and environments. Navigate and understand a complex and rapidly evolving technology space with an open mind, creative problem solving skills, and a bias for early action.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional technical product or software development experience.
  • Flawless interpersonal skills and ability to partner with executive leadership to push technical solutions forward.
  • Proven skills leading teams of technical experts developing and maintaining enterprise grade tools, APIs, and environments.
  • Experience in design/architecture of systems.
  • Full software development lifecycle experience.
  • Skilled in deploying and scaling products in public cloud.
  • Knowledge of Generative AI and Large Language Model inference.
  • Knowledge of agentic coding (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, etc.).
  • Knowledge of AI tools and frameworks, such as Langchain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, etc.
  • Passion for cutting edge technologies and excitement to tackle hard problems before there are clear solutions.
  • Passion for creating a fun, empathetic work environment where high performing, diverse teams can thrive.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building, developing, integrating with and/or launching GenAI products in a highly regulated industry
  • Experience in Data Science and analytics a plus.
