About The Position

Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.). This position, which offers a hybrid work arrangement, is primarily based in Austin with occasional travel (once per quarter) to Grand Rapids, MI and/or Clearwater, FL and necessitates a presence in the office three days a week (Tuesday – Thursday). An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 12 years of combined professional experience PWB design using high end CAD tools along with knowledge of PWB structures and stack-ups for high yielding PWB design.
  • Knowledge of PWB design and fabrication process.

  • Experience with Gigahertz microprocessors, FPGA, CPLD, DDR3 or DDR4 memory, flash memory, Gigabit Ethernet, and PCIe.
  • Experience in High Density Interconnect (HDI) technologies (micro vias, buried / blind vias, back drilling) for IPC Class 3 board.
  • Experience in PWB design of 5+ Gbps serial links. (10GBASE-KR, PCIe Gen3, Fiber Optics).
  • Experience in board conducting simulations including Power Integrity (PI) and Signal Integrity (SI).
  • Familiarity with the Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise and Hyperlinx PI/SI.
  • Familiarity with OrCAD PSPICE or LT Spice, Mathcad, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multiple disciplined teams including Circuit Design Engineers, Material Scientist, Manufacturing Engineers and PWB Suppliers.
  • Conduct release to packaging reviews and maintain design checklists.
  • Create PWB board parts and conduct parts placement.
  • Conduct pre-layout and post-layout signal/power integrity analysis using state of the art analysis tools.
  • Create layout constraints and maintain/run Design for Manufacturing & Design rule checks.
  • Create PWB stack-ups and via structure that meet design needs and are within PWB suppliers’ capabilities.
  • Complete routing and create PWB fabrication/manufacturing packages.
  • Establish standard PWBs and High-Density Interconnect PWBs Design for Manufacturing fabrication rules.
  • Maintain Standards for PWB design (ASME, IPC, IEEE etc.) and required drawing notes.
