About The Position

Proof of the Pudding is an award-winning catering company throughout the Southeast with a commitment to creating quality culinary innovations. This standard was upheld through the expansion into Sports and Entertainment Hospitality Services by providing elevated concessions and premium offerings to collegiate stadiums, PGA golf tournaments, International Boat Shows, Professional Sports Teams, & more. We are seeking a Senior Sous Chef/Purchaser that is self-motivated and experienced in high volume ordering, tracking, and inventory of large-scale food & beverage events. In this position, you will play a critical role in the success of our business by developing purchasing strategies, working with suppliers, and buying products and supplies for all PGA Tournaments and other assigned events as well as assisting in leading all culinary aspects of events including prior planning, cost management, kitchen staffing, onsite execution, logistics, equipment needs, postproduction check lists, clean up, and budget work. Event timelines often overlap, and cross-country travel is necessary for this role. The Senior Sous Chef/Purchaser will travel to all golf tournaments and necessary events. Travel time will take up about half of the position, when not travelling Purchaser can office out of the Atlanta Corporate office or work remotely.

Requirements

  • Experience in purchasing, warehousing, inventory, record keeping, and high communication skills.
  • 3-5+ years in a purchasing role with experience in high volume food & beverage or stadium Sports & Entertainment purchasing preferred
  • 4+ years in a leadership culinary role, experience in S&E or large scale events is needed
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Sharepoint.
  • Licensing or willingness to be licensed to drive a forklift/heavy machinery
  • Knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures, purchasing sources, prices structures, market fluctuation factors, product characteristics, reporting procedures, departmental procedures, and awareness of legal procedures and principals following state purchasing operations.
  • The ability to travel ~180 days per year

Responsibilities

  • Obtains supplies and equipment using company guidelines, rules, policies, and state laws.
  • Works with Culinary, Operations, and Sales team to obtain lists and information of what needs to be ordered for each tournament
  • Prepares and reviews all purchase orders. Purchase Order numbers are generated and tied to each invoice.
  • Prepares and reviews orders to verify accurate specifications, pricing and sustainability.
  • Sets up compliant vendors for payment in Accounts Payable processes.
  • Audits invoices and checks for accuracy, receipt of material, and compliance with purchase orders.
  • Tracks the status of requisitions and purchase orders following events through vendor statements ensure all invoices and purchase orders have been captured.
  • Maintains files and receipts, tracks budgets by events, and oversees overall event P&Ls with Tournament Director and Finance Lead.
  • Initiates, approves, and processes last minute purchases, should the need arise.
  • Receives, tracks, and organizes on-site deliveries
  • Works in the warehouse/trucks to ensure all inventory is accounted for and thoroughly processed
  • Assists in the kitchen and loading docks to help facilitate, organize, and track deliveries
  • During an event, coordinate deliveries, track short lists, and make store runs when necessary to ensure all needs are met
  • Be a leader on the culinary team at a variety of events. This position will mainly focus on golf tournaments but will lead and support other venues such as boat shows, collegiate stadiums, concerts, racetracks, and more.
  • Capable of producing a consistent product in high volume for multiple service times per day
  • Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen/food service areas
  • Create and maintain the overall moral of the kitchen and culinary team
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, internal and external email communications, and purchasing procedures
  • Performs other related duties as needed.
